“Playing our part” has always been at the heart of the Elizabeth Andrews mission.

This was part of the reason why we purchased a commercial composter and installed it in our new site at 96 Rosslyn St.

The impact of our composter has been significant with a number of unforeseen benefits:

1. We have reduced our rubbish landfill by 60% (we’ve gone from a daily rubbish pick-up to two days a week).

2. We have transitioned all of our packaging across to compostable.

3. During Covid we opened a café at 533 Lt Lonsdale St (“Crazy” I hear you say?). all of the packaging that goes through the café is composted and re-sold to our customers as fertilizer in 2kg bags.

4. We deposit 750kg+ of food scraps into the composter every week and we take out 75kg+ of “A” grade fertilizer every Monday morning.

5. What we don’t use in our kitchen herb garden, we deliver to Rosamond Special School in Braybrook every Monday afternoon.

6. Over the coming months and years, we will provide work experience opportunities to students from the Rosamond Special School.

What's On In Melbourne?

Moomba: 5th - 8th March

Moomba returns in 2021 with a revised program and format to ensure the event will delight families and meet COVID-19 safety requirements.

From 5 to 8 March, Moomba magic comes to Melbourne with a series of fun, family-friendly events and attractions spread across the city.

Super Saturday: Saturday 6th March

This Super Saturday there will be something new to discover at every turn: a super-sized Front Lawn Beer Garden with pop-up restaurants, roving wine tastings and multiple stages featuring live music; circus-themed fun for the kids in the Little Big Top in the Picnic Lawn; and superstar chef and Lexus ambassador Neil Perry will curate menus across selected dining venues and restaurants.

Melbourne International Comedy Festival: From 24th March

After a less-than-hilarious 2020, the Melbourne International Comedy Festival will be back, delivering COVID-safe laughs and comedy good times to Melburnians and the world, on stage and online.

Stop cheese from drying out by spreading butter or margarine on the cut sides to seal in moisture. This is most effective with hard cheeses sealed in wax.
