Made in the CBD for the CBD.                                           August 2020

“Pivot” – that’s got to be the verb for 2020.

Pretty much every business, every industry and every workforce has had to pivot since Covid hit, way back in March
.

For Elizabeth Andrews that has meant developing an entire range of boxed meals that are individually packed and hygienically sealed. The end result is that when we start to return to our places of work we can meet with confidence and dine securely.

In the meantime, Elizabeth Andrews has become heavily involved in helping out where we can. Whether it’s been working with
"Eat Up" to produce sandwiches for underprivileged children or mass-producing meals for families in lockdown or indeed supplying meals to hospitals, we’ve been in the thick of it doing our bit to help where we can.

As Melbourne enters a new regime of restrictions, we’ll still be here providing services to those essential businesses that are operating, to all those of us who have to stay at home and self-isolating.

Take care and stay safe!

Our Favourite Food Days at EA's
This month we take a look at some of our favourite food days
that you should put in your calendar!

Shrove Tuesday (Pancake Day) - Day Before Ash Wednesday
Why do we eat pancakes on Shrove Tuesday (well, aside from the fact that they are delicious)? It started when Pope St. Gregory prohibited Christians from eating all forms of meat and animal products during Lent around A.D. 600.

He told St. Augustine of Canterbury, a founder of the Christian church in southern England, to enforce those same fasting rules in England. So Christians made pancakes to use up their supply of eggs, milk and butter in preparation for Lent.
Australia's Biggest Morning Tea - May and June

Held annually in May and June since 1994, Australia's Biggest Morning Tea event has brought together millions of Australians over a cuppa in support of those affected by cancer.

World Pasta Day - 25th October
Carb lovers of the world, behold: October 25 is World Pasta Day. People have been eating pasta since at least 5,000 B.C. However, this delightful holiday was only established in 1995, when 40 pasta producers from around the world gathered to hold the globe's first World Pasta Congress.
Sandwich Day - 3rd November

The sandwich is believed to be the namesake of John Montagu, 4th Earl of Sandwich, following the claim that he was the inventor of the sandwich. No matter who invented it, we celebrate every kind of sandwich annually on the 3rd November!

Your Say

"Thank you very much for your organising of my impromptu lunch today; “divine and very much appreciated” was what I received in an email."
Food Quote

“The trouble with eating Italian is that 5 or 6 days later, you're hungry again.”

You can freeze cheese! Hard cheeses like parmesan, cheddar and mozzarella are great frozen. We recommend you grate them first, pop them in a ziplock or freezer bag and then use them straight from frozen in your cooking.
