Welcome

When is too early too early?

Around June every year we get our first Christmas catering enquiries……honestly – June!

It’s always a bit of a wake-up call for me. I’m the first to admit that I’m a bit of a traditionalist and I’m not too keen to see Christmas advertising in September or hot-cross buns being advertised in January.

You’ll note that in this newsletter, I’ve introduced our Christmas menu for 2017. Rest assured, this is not because I think it’s about time to advertise the Christmas offerings, it’s more to do with the input from our clients and the flood of requests we have for Christmas parties starting from around mid-August.

In the retail world there’s always some sort of milestone that’s worth promoting whether it be Easter, Mothers day, Fathers day, Christmas, Haloween etc etc. Personally, I think a lot of the time the real message and reason for these milestones is lost in the commercial hype. In my mind, this is a bit of a shame.

I know I’ve got a responsibility to make sure that Elizabeth Andrews remains a successful and profitable business – not only for our loyal customers but also for the 50 staff who I work with, so if I’ve offended anyone by including our Christmas menu in this newsletter, please accept my apologies!

At least you can get in early for the best catering on offer this Christmas!

Cooking Tip

Homemade vinaigrettes have fewer ingredients and taste better than bottled ones. No need to whisk them: Just put all the ingredients in a sealed container and shake.
