Welcome

So the New Year’s been and gone and we’re into February before we had a chance to take a breath.

I’ve never been very good at my own personal New Years resolutions. If they involve a third person ie – homelessness, keeping an eye out for the elderly etc then I tend to stick to them. But this year, my wife “suggested” I may want to get a bit fitter by getting me a fitbit for Christmas. Now I’m a bit of a gadget man so I fully embraced this for the first couple of weeks and lo-and-behold, I shed a few kilos, met my exercise and step targets and started feeling really good.

The fitbit was clearly working, until the novelty wore off! And that got me thinking about any kind of project we choose to get our teeth into this year. There’s generally a “honeymoon period” when the novelty and the results outweigh the effort put into the project. I realized that in order to keep the interest going, it was necessary to look beyond the short-term benefits and set some goals that involved others – so I’m now getting fit for my 9 year old son and my wife – not me. And voila – I’m back on track.

I even went to my first ever Yoga class on the beach at Barwon Heads on Australia Day – it took 51 years but I loved it and will try and make it a more regular activity.

Whatever challenges you’ve set yourself this year, if you’re struggling, try involving a third party and you may well re-invigorate your outcomes! Good luck!

Cheers

Cooking Tip

Recipes are only a guideline, not the Bible. Feel comfortable replacing ingredients with similar ingredients that you like. If you like oregano but not thyme, use oregano.

Your Say

Good afternoon Louise, hope all is well.

Just wanted to send through a quick message to thank you again for the morning tea this morning.

The food was amazing, and the staff enjoyed it!!

I will ensure all plates are cleaned and will call the number to arrange for pick up Monday or early next week. Wishing you all the best for the long weekend.

Kindest Regards,
Erin
